On June 13, the IGR Alumni Finistère delegation, co-organized with the Finistère DFCGs, met in Brest.

We had the privilege of visiting the vessel Le Thalassa, chartered by Genavir, a SAS managed by IFREMER.
Genavir manages the French ocean-going fleet from Brest and Toulon, representing 12 vessels, 430 employees including 270 sailors, scientists and support functions.

A ship like the Thalassa includes the ship's crew (to lead and support the scientists) and scientists (to lead the oceanographic data collection work (datas and physical data)). The Thalassa operates mainly in the Atlantic arc, for missions lasting from 5 to 62 days (or more, with crew relief).

We took a tour of the 3-deck ship, and learned about the many different professions on board.

We ended the meeting with a friendly drink, to forge links between the IGRiens and the DFCGs present.

Many thanks to Léandre Bréhier, a graduate of IGR-IAE Rennes and CFO of Génavir, for hosting our 2 networks. In Finistère, the DFCGs are led by Sylvie Cheftel, also an IGR graduate.
and Claire and Coralie on the Alumni side.
