Digital inclusion for employees" conference

30 January 2025 Networks

On January 30, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm, the University of Rennes Foundation's Vivre Ensemble Chair will be holding a conference on "Inclusion of employees through digital: Feedback on a short digital training course for employees with reading and writing difficulties".

Digital technology plays a central role in our society. Yet a significant proportion of the population is still excluded from its use. Faced with this reality, it's becoming essential to offer suitable training courses, within the company, to bridge this digital divide. Indeed, digital technology is not only a means of integrating employees into the digital system itself, it is also a powerful tool for including those who have difficulty with reading and/or writing, whether they are illiterate, speak French as a foreign language (FLE) or have little use for the written word in their professional activity.

To this end, the Chair has created and tested a short digital training course to reach these vulnerable groups in the workplace. Initially conceived as a training program to identify and build the confidence of people suffering from illiteracy, this initiative has revealed much wider benefits, particularly for the target group: it enables companies to offer a digital program targeting employees with reading and/or writing difficulties, without highlighting these specific problems. By focusing solely on the acquisition of digital skills, this approach promotes discreet and effective inclusion.
